Department of Health Board
The Departmental board consists of directors and senior
officials responsible for different strands of the
Department of Health’s work. It supports the Chief Executive
of the NHS and Permanent Secretary to ensure the department
is organised, resourced and motivated to deliver its
objectives effectively.
National Clinical Directors
The role of national clinical director was created to
support the key objectives of the NHS Plan published in
2000. They are clinical specialists in their field and are
figureheads for specific national service frameworks.
