The Health and Social Care Bill was presented to Parliament on 19th January 2011.
On 31st January 2011 the House of Commons debated the main principles of the Bill at the Second Reading.
This Bill had its Second Reading debate on 31st January 2011 and was committed to a Public Bill Committee, who met bi-weekly throughout February and March 2011 to consider the Bill.
On 4th April 2011, the Secretary of State, the Rt Hon Andrew Lansley MP, announced a ‘pause’ in the passage of the Bill through Parliament, and appointed the NHS Future Forum to conduct the NHS Listening Exercise. The Future Forum submitted its recommmendations to the Government in June 2011, and the House of Commons agreed a programme motion re-committing certain clauses of the Bill to the Public Bill Committee, who met to consider the re-committed clauses of the Bill.
The report stage in the House of Commons took place on 6th and 7th September 2011.
The Bill received its third reading in the House of Commons on 7th September 2011. It began its passage through the House of Lords on 8th September 2011.
