Major Developments (26th April – 7th May)
The
APHG is pleased to confirm the meeting programme for the summer as follows: Wednesday 12th May 2004 8:30am –
10:00am ‘Securing Good Health for the Whole
Population’, an overview
with Derek Wanless, HM Treasury Breakfast Briefing with Derek Wanless, HM
Treasury. Chaired by Howard Stoate MP Dining Room B, House of Commons ‘Securing
Good Health for the Whole Population’ is the second Wanless report
commissioned jointly by the Department of Health, HM Treasury and the Cabinet
Office. As with his first report ‘Securing our Future Health’ which was
published last year, Derek Wanless is delighted to join us discuss his
findings. Health Secretary Dr John Reid and
Chancellor Gordon Brown have already indicated that the findings of the
report are an important contribution to the debate in Cabinet, and will play
a central role in determining future policy on public health, an area
identified by Government as a key priority. The
breakfast briefing is an excellent chance to gain an insider view into the
report and discuss the findings with its author, and of course is a valuable
insight into and indicator of future Government policy, at a time when public
health issues such as smoking and obesity ride high on the political and
public agenda Tuesday 8th July 2004 8:30am – 10:30am. ‘Specialised Services’
