New role for Directors of Public Health
Nine Directors of Public Health for the English regions have been
announced by the Chief Medical Officer Sir Liam Donaldson. This follows the
announcement of the reorganised structure of the NHS with fewer strategic
health authorities. The new Director of Public Health posts will replace the
roles of Regional Director of Public Health, Strategic Health Authority (SHA)
Director of Public Health and Medical Director. Click

New era of patient involvement in
the running of health services

deliver better health outcomes and secure best value for money. Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) will
for the first time be required to formally respond to public petitions if
more than one per cent of the local community are unhappy with a particular
health service. Click
