Major Developments (22nd – 26th May)

 

Traditional GP services contracted out in London

The NHS has signed the first Government-brokered deal allowing a private company to run traditional GP services. Care UK, a company specialising in the delivery of community and primary care, will run a 7,000-patient GP practice and 100-patient-per-day walk-in centre under a contract with Barking and Dagenham PCT. Membership of expert group to investigate clinical trials announced

The membership of an Expert Group to investigate clinical trials to the House of Commons has been announced. The Group is an independent scientific committee that will determine its own work programme. Click here to read more.

 

Patient survey into hospital care published

The Healthcare Commission has published the national and individual trust results of the survey of patients who stay overnight in hospital. Levels of satisfaction with the overall standard of care were generally high. Standards of care on wards, information and cleanliness were areas marked out for improvement.
